Enarmonia infausta

[edit]

Hi,

Why didn't you make only a deletion log? I have to update Cydria later with the full details.

Regards, PeterR 15:12, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since that is easier for you, I will delete it.--Open2universe | Talk 15:13, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Odd edits ...

[edit]
  • Firstly, I DIDN'T remove the English vernacular name - I moved it to the top of the list of vernacular names, where it belongs since English is the main language, and it just gets lost in the big list otherwise.
  • Secondly, please read the section I put on the Village Pump regarding authorities for names above family group.

There is presently a discussion on the use of daggers to denote extinct taxa. This will affect a large portion of the pages in wikispecies as the project grows so if possible please read the contributions so far and comment. Thanks --Kevmin 06:57, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

What to do?

[edit]

What should we do if a genus has way too many species? Do we list them all anyway? For example: Erica (Ericaceae). That mess of links isn't too appealing :) Rocket000 13:34, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oberthür

[edit]

Hi,

Oberthür redirected from to Charles Oberthür but there 3 Oberthür : Charles Oberthür fr (1845 - 1924), his brother René Oberthür fr (1852-1944), his father François-Charles Oberthür fr (1818 -1893) ! I’m not a specialist so i’m a little confused to find who named what. Could you help me ?

Cdlt, VIGNERON 15:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is confusing. It is similar to a disambiguation page (les pages d'homonymie). If we knew for certain then we could add René Oberthür and François-Charles Oberthür and make the correct links. --Open2universe | Talk 01:08, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Question

[edit]

hey Open2universe,

I had a question. I saw on your userpage that you are working on taxonomic authors. Can you find any info on the taxonomic authors of this species Neofelis diardi borneensis? I find it really hard to find, but i found their first names, so the links are correct. Could you find any info on them and give it to me or make a page with the info. I can't seem to find when they are born, so the only info i know are their names and that they are zoölogists, because they work with a clouded leopard project for the "Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research" in Berlin, Germany.

Thanks in forward,

Kennyannydenny (talk) 20:16, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Maybe you can also find something about the taxonomic author Casto de Elera, he decriped a lot of animals including: Manis culionensis and about Marta L. Bueno, who described Aotus jorgehernandezi. --Kennyannydenny (talk) 20:37, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't want to ask too much, but could you also take a look at the authors of Congosorex phillipsorum? All of these people are really hard to find. Kennyannydenny (talk) 21:13, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I see you have done a lot. I will look for the people you mention, but when they are recent, it is more difficult. Some of these people are still PhD students.--Open2universe | Talk 02:26, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Alright thanks. Change things you find out and for the rest, i think i just have to wait before they get their own site or something, like Thomas R. Defler. But really really thank you. Kennyannydenny (talk) 07:36, 10 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Taxonavigation

[edit]

Sorry to bother you, please can you tell me, why the Taxonavigation in Wikispecies does not work for Creediidae. I've checked, and rechecked and rechecked... - just can't find the reason. --Haps (talk) 10:27, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

again Taxonavigation

[edit]

Sorry, need some help again: Recently I added a new species of Poecilopsetta (P. multiradiata), realised there was no other species either, so I added all the species, created the family page, and so on. Finally I realised, there was somewhere a mistake in Taxonavigation, because on page "Poecilopsettidae" I get the three genera, including "Poecilopsetta", but on page "Poecilopsetta" the family name is now "Poeciliopsettidae" with an additional and wrong "i". How come? --Haps (talk) 12:22, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Plantago

[edit]

I'm rewieving your infrageneric taxa of Plantago. You have noted Linnaeus as the author. I don't know where you got that info, I don't think L. ever published infrageneric names of plants. Uleli (talk) 20:04, 27 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The same goes for infrageneric names in Primula. Linnaeus did not publish those names. Please check records before publishing author names. It takes a long time correcting them. Uleli (talk) 16:58, 24 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Question

[edit]

Hi, I just modified Wim Crusio modelled on an article that you just modified (Chris Funk). I noticed that the header "Publications" is plural. Is this section supposed to give representative publication(s) or is this supposed to be exhaustive? I'm still rather new here, so some advice is welcome. Thanks! --Crusio (talk) 14:45, 29 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good question. That is not a section I ever add. I am not sure how people view it. For some taxon authors it would be quite a long list. Unfortunately our Help section at Help:Author_Names doesn't provide clarity on this matter. I certainly don't think the Authored Taxa is a good standard. You might ask at Wikispecies:Village Pump. If we get a consensus on answers then we should enhance the help section. Sorry I could not provide more definitive answers. Open2universe | Talk 01:08, 30 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Thanks, I'll do that. I had also looked at the help pages and didn't see any guidance. Perhaps someone should make a kind of an "example article" (both for taxa and for authorities). --Crusio (talk) 11:09, 30 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

O. ptychocheilus

[edit]

Hello, I had removed the link for the names in "Ornithodiplostomum" and "Ornithodiplostomum ptychocheilus" because they appear to be linking to the wrong people. Note year of death versus year of classification. Thanks

OK, I will look into it. Open2universe | Talk 01:06, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

The VN template

[edit]

Could you add cop and mak, please? See Template_talk:VN#mak_and_cop

Thanks Jcwf (talk) 02:58, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I added them, let me know if that is correct Open2universe | Talk 00:32, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, but unfortunately something seems to go wrong...

As you can see on Elettaria cardamomum, it just shows mak: as 'language name' instead of ᨅᨔ ᨆᨀᨔᨑ.

(If you cannot see the lontara, you can download the font here)

Is the lontara script a problem somehow?

Jcwf (talk) 04:41, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if the script is a problem or if entries need to be added to some other process. I am sorry but it has been a while and I don't remember. I will continue looking. Open2universe | Talk 12:31, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, there are several open rename requests (one of them mine). Would you perhaps have a moment to look into them? Thanks! --Crusio (talk) 17:40, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
