Jim Troubridge[edit]

Nefer,

You make an author template after ZooKeys 558 from Ken Stead and Jim Troubridge

Hi, @PeterR:. That name was blue-linked to already existing page, which had almost no content. I researched this problem, and find both Troubridges to be one person. As James T. Troubridge seems to be more "official", I moved contents to that page, and left Jim Troubridge as redirect. I corrected taxon categories as well. Thanks Nefer PeterR (talk) 16:55, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Patrol stats[edit]

Thanks to Cgt on danish Wp, we can now see statistics on patrolling: https://cgt.name/patrolstats/wikispecies.html MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 20:07, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that the patrolling stats URL has now changed from the da:WP user Cgt's personal web page (listed above) to a URL within the Wikimedia project itself, more specifically https://tools.wmflabs.org/patrolstats/specieswiki.html at Wikimedia Tool Labs. The old "cgt.name" URL no longer works without a proper SSL certificate. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 22:50, 17 April 2016 (UTC).[reply]

X.Q. Nguyen[edit]

Nefer,

I believe it is Xuan Quynh Nguyen. PeterR (talk) 18:13, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I didn't see his full name buried in his affiliation. That is very unusual for Zootaxa. Neferkheperre (talk) 18:36, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Zt Templates[edit]

Thanks for the reminder; I didn't realize Zt templates are no longer used. Actually I agree with all the negatives about them that you mentioned. I deleted it. MKOliver (talk) 12:32, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sadahisa, Toshiya & Yutaka, 2016[edit]

Nefer,

This template is wrong. The template have to be Yagi, Hirowatari & Arita, 2016. PeterR (talk) 11:36, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I had some headaches making it. Zookeys had gotten all three authors confused and reversed. I had no luck at all with Yagi, other two existed here as author pages. I overlooked main title. All fixed now. Neferkheperre (talk) 14:25, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The real back names I found after the species. PeterR (talk) 09:34, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kip[edit]

Nefer,

You send me something about Kip, but I see nothing that I can do for you. 09:51, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Museum of Zoology, Lund University, Lund, Sweden[edit]

Nefer,

I Have two abbrevations for Museum of Zoology, Lund University, Lund, Sweden: EML and MZLU. Please can you fix the good abbrevation? PeterR (talk) 12:52, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @PeterR:. MZLU is correct blanket museum acronym. Got information from GRBio, and updated Lund U's repository entry. Their collections dbase is apparently quite new and nowhere nearly complete. What with that, I was not able to completely determine if EML is in use, so I redirected it to MZLU with note to verify.
This link might prove useful for all entomologists here; BESE. I can't get for free, but you might. LSU probably has it, I will check when I next go. In 1982, LSU was maintaining its journal subscriptions. When Republican Party took over our state government in 2008, educational funding was nearly destroyed, and LSU lobrary can no longer keep up journal subscriptions, or reliable copy machines. All help desks have been closed, except one. We voted them out last November, so maybe now things will return. Neferkheperre (talk) 16:34, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing this. The problem is that even in 2016 the authors use different abbrevations for the same museum. So mostly I add the mention Museum abbrevation by Holotype and the linked Museum by category. PeterR (talk) 13:25, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

SMFL and SMF[edit]

Nefer,

I Have two abbrevations for Museum Senckenberg, Frankfurt am Main: SMFL and SMF. Please can you match them under SMF? PeterR (talk) 11:10, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Author Borislav Vasilev Guéorguiev[edit]

Nefer,

I think Borislav Vasilev Guéorguiev and Borislav Guéorguiev are the same author. PeterR (talk) 09:41, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @PeterR:. They are indeed one person. I combined both into Borislav Vasilev Guéorguiev, and made redirect. I took care of SMF last weekend, and forgot to mention it. I have more to complete Senckenberg complex of 6 museums, which all continue their traditional acronyms. I have some of my own new institution entries to make, so that will be most of one day, very soon. Neferkheperre (talk) 12:44, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for all. PeterR (talk) 12:47, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sara I. Lopez Ciruelos[edit]

Nefer,

I think you have the authors name wrong Ciruelos. I think the surname is López Ciruelos. See 1. The text after Aphis tehuelchis. I know that Spanish names are very difficult and you have to read the text or references to know the real name. PeterR (talk) 12:24, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Milagros Pilar Mier Durante[edit]

Nefer,

The surname is Mier Durante. See 2. See text and references. PeterR (talk) 12:35, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Joaquín Ortego[edit]

Nefer,

Joaquín Ortego is Jaime Ortega. See 3 PeterR (talk) 12:40, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that, @PeterR:. I fixed it. I have much more trouble with Spanish and Brazilian names than any other. When they don't hyphenate, it is more difficult to determine surnames. Then, little consistency in how they present their names. Neferkheperre (talk) 20:20, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have the same problems. PeterR (talk) 08:43, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Zt1574.1[edit]

Hi there,
there's one page still linking to Template:Zt1574.1. This must be replaced, right? --Murma174 (talk) 15:50, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Murma174:. If it is Chthamalus hedgecocki, I am still revising it, and haven't saved it yet. If not, let me know. I thought I caught them all. Neferkheperre (talk) 15:59, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, you obviously were just working on it. It's O.K. now. --Murma174 (talk) 18:21, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Authored taxa"![edit]

Strictly speaking (example) taxa cannot be authored! The correct term is "nominal taxa", or just "names". Taxonomists name taxa and are the authors of those names ... Stho002 (talk) 21:32, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Carlos D. Cadena[edit]

Dear friend, this page already exists, Carlos Daniel Cadena, better merge. Saludos.--Hector Bottai (talk) 01:36, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Hector Bottai:. Thanks, I missed that one. Neferkheperre (talk) 12:08, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New biographies[edit]

Hi,

May I urge you, please, when you create a new biography page, to do two things:

 1. Include Authority control (like this). It won't display if there are no values in Wikidata.
 2. Create an equivalent Wikidata entry. Shout of you need advice on that.

Cheers, Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:55, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 • I had planned to contact you on this subject later today. I was wondering if template would automatically harvest Wikidata info. I have noted for my own author page that Authority control did not automatically pick up my own codes. I added them in manually.
 • Yes, please coach me on making Wikidata companion pages. --Neferkheperre (talk) 18:25, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Active vandal[edit]

Please deal with User:MyIslandSpoofFan1989. I have no sysop powers these days! Stho002 (talk) 00:01, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I eliminated its nonsense and put it on mywatchlist. I saw your warning, and if it vandalizes again, good riddance. Neferkheperre (talk) 00:22, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Acria (Depressariinae)[edit]

Nefer,

You have delete Acria (Depressariinae). Why? Do you everything what Stohner ask you, without communicate it with me? PeterR (talk) 11:52, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Antonio Durante[edit]

Nefer,

Do you know if Mario Antonio Durante is the same author as Antonio Durrante?. Mario Antonio Durante is an italian entomologist with address: Museo di Storia Naturale, via Europa 95, 73021 Calimera. Italy. PeterR (talk) 13:46, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @PeterR:. I could not find Mario Antonio Durante, but found Antonio Durante (one r) with exact same address. Very prolific entomologist. I would say one person. Neferkheperre (talk) 15:24, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Mario Antonio Durante published new species in Lambillionea, 2002, 102(3), 282-286 together with Sandro Panzera. PeterR (talk) 15:38, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely same person. I went on Antonio's Research Gate page and found that Lambillionea article listed. Thanks. Neferkheperre (talk) 16:29, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

───────────────────────── @Neferkheperre: @PeterR:

The page Mario Antonio Durante now redirects to Antonio Durante. All of the "Mario Antonio Durante" links on taxon pages and reference templates have been changed to "Antonio Durante". The same goes for Category:Antonio Durante taxa. Also, the Wikidata item Q22110043 named "Mario Antonio Durante" is now merged with the Wikidata item Q21342078 named "Antonio Durante". The "diff" of the Wikidata merge can be found here. –Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 23:23, 14 July 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Revival of Pl. Wilson.[edit]

Hello Ray. Thank you for the many and – as always! – good contributions. You recently deleted the page Pl. Wilson. I do not in any way object to you deleting it: it was tagged as a candidate for speedy deletion, after all. However, I recently created the page Plantae Wilsonianae, and therefore revived "Pl. Wilson." as a redirect to it. Just so you know… :-) Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 14:35, 29 October 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Hi @Tommy Kronkvist:. When checking "Pl. Wilson." before deleting, I did notice your creation of Plantae Wilsonianae in full form, and decided abbreviation was superfluous. Redirects for periodicals are probably very good, especially for now obscure 19th Century journals, which are almost always found as abbreviations. Occasionally I must spend hours tricking out full names. Neferkheperre (talk) 14:45, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that while good for periodicals, creating abbreviation pages for these kinds of publications is most often superfluous. In this particular case I opted for creating an abbr. page anyway, since there actually are a few pages linking to it. And yes, I hear you: the full names behind some abbreviations can be exceptionally elusive, especially since some of them are changed every second year or so. Over and out: have a nice weekend. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 15:05, 29 October 2016 (UTC).[reply]

DEFAULTSORT inserted in Category: xxx taxa[edit]

Hello, I noticed you add the DEFAULTSORT by author's name to the author's taxa categories. Is there a particular reason to do so? The taxa are being sorted alphabetically by taxon-name by default. I don't see any advantage to include the DEFAULTSORT, or am I missing something? Mariusm (talk) 15:55, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Mariusm:. I thought exactly that myself. But in discussion with User talk:Korg yesterday, DEFAULTSORT applies to alphabetizing names into category:taxa by author itself. Taxon names listed under each particular Author taxa category do of course, alphabetize themselves. @Orchi: and @Franz Xaver: are doing it as well.
