Welcome to Wikispecies!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! -- Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:05, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much!! I will try to best to make contributions here with the time I have and revert any vandalism while I check through RC. Is there any specific list of wanted species pages? Cactusisme (talk) 12:56, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Pigsonthewing forgot to ping..oops Cactusisme (talk) 12:58, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
For wanted species pages, there is no list (that I know of!), but you can traverse hierarchies and find red links on genus pages, like on Tasmosalpingus. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:07, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Pigsonthewing Can you tell me the format for a page? Cactusisme (talk) 22:51, 3 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Start at Help:Contents and see each page in that section in turn. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:29, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Pigsonthewing I created some pages. Cactusisme (talk) 12:30, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Aname aurea is good; Tasmosalpingus magnus was less so (I've made some edits) - this is a multilingual project, so (aside from discussions such as this one) we try to avoid including prose in English or other single languages; and we require citations. Okay, will do it next time. Cactusisme (talk) 02:46, 5 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

───────────────── This is also mentioned on the page What Wikispecies is not, linked by Andy Mabbett in his first post to you, above. By the way, I've edited the Tasmosalpingus magnus page a bit more. The former version listed several species and not just T. magnus (i.e. it was formatted like a genus page rather than a species page). I also added primary references. Good teamwork, all in all. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 04:22, 5 April 2025 (UTC).Reply

@Tommy Kronkvist Thanks for the edits, I will take a look and read the pages. Cactusisme (talk) 04:24, 5 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
