Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing without logging in, but you may want to consider creating an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits, such as the ability to keep track of pages you work on. If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here. Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or ask in the Village Pump. Again, welcome!

Images on taxon pages[edit]

Hello, and thank you for your many good contributions! However, in regards to this edit (and several others) of your edits, please note that the code string for pictures should always be on the very first line of the code, not below the "==Taxonavigation==" headline. In other words, the correct placement of the image code is like this. Please see the Wikispecies Image Guidelines for more information. Thank you. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 17:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Vernacular names on taxon pages[edit]

Hello, and thank you again for your many good edits. However, in regards to this edit (and several others) of your edits, please note that the "Vernacular names" section should always be the very last section of any page, not above the "References" section. In other words, the correct placement of the vernacular names (if added at all) is like this. The main reason is that the vernacular names are in no means whatsoever a part of the taxonomy or systematics, hence are far less important than the references. Please see the Vernacular names section in the Wikispecies Help files for more information. Thank you. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 06:22, 27 January 2016 (UTC).[reply]

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify him/her.
