Holotype: TM 56116, collected by W.D. Haacke and H.L. Wessels on 10 October 1982.

Type locality: “Farm Schulpfontein, 472 Nanlaqualand District, Cape Province [= Northern Cape], South Africa, 30°05'S, 17°14'E, altitude just below 100 m, about 5 km inland from the coast”.
