O. villosovittatum is an Australian species of dragonfly that ranges from Victoria through eastern New South Wales and Queensland, north inland Queensland, Cape York and north Northern Territory in Australia and overseas as far as the Moluccas, New Guinea and neighbouring islands. It is a common species over most of its range in Australia.

The male has a golden brown thorax and a red abdomen, while the female is generally ochre. The male abdomen is constricted at segment four.

This species inhabits boggy seepages, ponds, streams and swamps.
