"Cat" in japanese (日本語) is pronounced "neko"

In chinese (中文) it is "mao1"

But I don't know how to change!!!

If I understand you correctly, the addition of pronunciation information is not needed here. See User talk:130.95.93.141 --Georgeryp 06:15, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Felis catus or Felis sylvestris catus?[edit]

Why does Felis catus redirect here (to Felis sylvestris catus) assuming this most recent information is generally accepted:

"...F. catus is still [a] valid [scientific name] if the domestic form is considered a separate species. Recent DNA and comparative bone research shows that the separate species name F. catus is correct after all[1]. - from en:Wikipedia, Cat#Scientific_classification

--Georgeryp 22:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One (sub-)species, one article. The argument over just what the classification should be is still ongoing, and the animal's article has to go at some title. The English Wikipedia article also no longer states the quoted information, instead citing the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature supporting felis silvestris catus. I have no idea about the i/y spelling. -- 66.25.244.7 00:24, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was here to ask that. Wikipedia says that the Cat is different than the Wildcat, and you say that the Cat is just a subspecies of the Wildcat. But it does sound better if the Cat is a subspecies of the Wildcat. Tharnton345 10:58, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is having the article referenced under Felis catus. Is this correct? -Theklan (talk) 17:14, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Recent DNA and comparative bone research shows that the separate species name F. catus is correct after all" Really? Well this genetic study doesn't: The Near Eastern Origin of Cat Domestication lybica is closer to catus than other "true" wildcat subspecies, so if catus isn't Felis silvestris, then neither is lybica. Information[edit]

We should have more information on the species' habits and stuff.--Arceus fan 22:00, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is not Wikipedia and stuff. -- 200.226.185.219 07:49, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
