Note: The genus is a synonym of Clinopodium L., Sp. Pl.: 587 (1753), but none of the combinations on the taxon page have been satisfactorily transferred so preventing creation of taxonomically sound redirects. This has arisen due to problems in creating Clinopodium pamphylicum (Boiss. & Heldr. ex Benth.) Govaerts, World Checkl. Seed Pl. 3(1): 18. (1999), nom. inval., with incorrect basionym reference (ICN Art. 41). This species is used in the creation of its subspecies C. p. subsp. alanyense – C. p. subsp. davisii – C. p. subsp. piperelloides by Alan & Dirmenci (2012), which will also be invalid and so are unplaced names and out of project scope. Unfortunately, this has not been taxonomically addressed and the error has promogulated across a number of other secondary sources, including Flora of Turkey and Euro+Med.
