Notes[edit]

Curcuma wenyujin was legitimately described by Y.H. Chen (1981) with latin diagnosis. Formerly this species was treated as Curcuma wenchowensis in 1975, but without latin diagnosis. Before its acceptance as a distinct species, Curcuma wenyujin was also treated as a variety of Curcuma aromatica (Curcuma aromatica Salisb. cv. wenyujin) by Wu & Senjen (1978). Xiao et al. (2001, 2004) obtained very interesting results from extensive RAPD, histological and morphological studies based on numerical taxonomy. According to these results, Curcuma wenyujin should be treated as a variety of Curcuma aromatica, supporting the former classification as a variety by Wu & Senjen (1978).
