Abies alba / Pinus picea[edit]
@Andyboorman and RLJ: - there is no citation in Miller's Abies #1 description to suggest that Abies alba is a replaced synonym, or even homotypic, with Pinus picea L. Where does this come from? I can see nothing to suggest that Miller's and Linnaeus's names are anything other than heterotypic. - MPF (talk) 22:42, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- Both names share the reference to Tournefort, Institutiones Rei Herbariae: 585 ("Abies laxi folio, fructu sursum spectante"). For names published until 1953, this is sufficient for a replacement name. See also Art. 41.3 ICN and especially Example 6. --RLJ (talk) 09:41, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
