Synchonnus Waterhouse, 1879

Type species: Porrostoma clientulum Waterhouse, 1877, by monotypy.

Gender: masculine [No explicit etymology originally, plausibly latinized greek but no clear basis in those dictionaries. Uses masculine latin suffix -us inline with ICZN 30.1.1, but may be better if follow 30.2. With that, again a masculine interpretation is supported by the original description where the type species was explicitly recombined with a masculine diminutive suffix -ulus to replace its former netuer -ulum suffix. However, the change may also be seen simply as later adoption of the nominative case. In cases with doubt per 30.2.4 again defers to masculine]
