Holotype: USNM 126555, adult ♀, skin and skull.
Type locality: “Papayo (about 25 miles northwest of Acapulco), Guerrero, Mexico.”
Taxonomic note: described as a subspecies was elevate to species status by Velazco & Patterson (2013: 694).
