- Holotype: USNM 250310, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by C.F. Underwood on 14 July 1931.
- Type locality: “El Sauce Peralta, a farm on the Atlantic rail road, less than half way from San Jose to Limon, probably about 1000 feet elevation”.
