[edit]Description: Filamentous cyanobacteria, forming green and black compact subaerophytic biofilms on solid substrata (Panou & Gkelis, 2021). Their filaments are fine, long and wavy. Young filaments appear to be more or less straight (Panou & Gkelis, 2021). The sheaths are thin, firm, colourless, attached to the trichomes, sometimes widened at the ends (Panou & Gkelis, 2021). The trichomes are cylindrical, not constricted at cross walls, sometimes slightly constricted toward the end (Panou & Gkelis, 2021). Cells isodiametric, slightly shorter than wide or longer than wide with green or blue-green content (Panou & Gkelis, 2021). Reproduction occurs via formation of hormogonia, produced by fragmentation of trichomes, often by means of irregular necridic cells (Panou & Gkelis, 2021).
