- Type locality: USA: Texas, Bastrop State Park, Bastrop County.
- Type: R.D. Groover; ix.1966; isolated from soil.
- Epitype (designated by Darienko & Pröschold 2017 in support of the holotype): The strain UTEX 1710 (cult. no. RDG-34 cited in oirignal publication) is permanently cryopreserved in a metabolically inactive state (cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen) in the SAG, University of Göttingen, Germany.
