- Holotype: USNM 529971, adult ♂, collected by Otto Sirom on 15 July 1999.
- Type locality: “Pasa Island, Ant Atoll, Caroline Islands, Federated States of Micronesia”.
- Etymology: Derived from the Greek adoketos meaning “unexpected or surprising,” in reference to the unexpected discovery of this species on a remote Pacific atoll.
