Name[edit]

Holotype: NMSL 2013.04.01 NH, 03.iv.2010, adult male; coll. L.J.M.W, D.R.V., M.D.G.R., S.C.A. & A.W.A.C.
Type locality: Sripada (Peak Wilderness), Ratnapura District, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka (060 48’31”N & 800 28’14”E; 1334m).
Etymology: Named after Y.G.P. Karunarathna (retired Assistant Director, Department of Wildlife Conservation, Sri Lanka), in great appreciation for his commendable services to wildlife management which has resulted in the minimizing of the human-wildlife conflict on the island.
