Name[edit]

Protoblepharon rosenblatti Baldwin, Johnson & Paxton, 1997

Holotype (unique): AMS 1.24275-001.

Type locality: Cook Islands, Rarotonga, northwest of Matavera, (21°12'S, 159°45'W), at 274 m depth.

Etymology: The specific name is named in honor of Dr. Richard H. Rosenblatt, a mentor to one of the authors (GDJ), friend and valuable colleague to all of the authors. His contributions to the systematics and functional morphology of flashlight fishes have shed much light on the evolution and biology of the Anomalopidae.
