- Holotype: AMNH M-100624, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by A.L. Rand on 11 November 1929.
- Type locality: “Tabiky (Tabika, 22°10'S, 44°15'E), approximately 20 km NW of Ankazoabo, western Madagascar”.
