Holotype: UMMZ 249907. Paratypes: (45).

Type locality: Bangladesh, Meghna basin, Sylhet, Rangapani Khal (creek), 6.4 km NNW Jaintiapur on Sylhet–Shillong Highway, 25.14N, 92.056E.

Etymology: Named for Professor Abu Tweb Abu Ahmed for his contributions to the study of hillstream fishes of Bangladesh.
