  • Type locality: SOUTH AFRICA, [Western Cape]: Langeberge, Boesmansbos, 1050 m, 33.56S– 20.53E, sifted forest litter.
  • Holotype: DNMNH # 1563, ♂, 9.iii.1979, Endrödy-Younga.
  • Etymology: The name refers to the strong similarity to other species (Lat. deceptor = a deceiver).
