Holotype: ZMB 20725, ♀.

Type locality: “Kibwezi (Brit. Ostafrika [=Kenya])”.


Taxonomic note: synonymized with Micrelaps boettgeri by Wallach (1991: 415), was restaured to valid species by Rasmussen (2002: 82).
