Melonycteris melanops Dobson, 1877: 119

  • Holotype: BMNH 1877.7.18.10, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by Rev. George Brown.
  • Type locality: “Duke-of-York Island and adjacents coasts of New Ireland and New Britain”, restricted “Duke of York Island” by Dobson (1878: 98) and to “New Ireland” by Andersen (1912: 790).
  • Paratype: BMNH 1877.7.18.16, adult ♀, skin with skull extracted, same data as for the holotype.

    • Holotype: AM P1271, adult ♂, skin with skull inside, collected by Rev. George Brown.
