Etymology
[edit]- "The genus name is a toponym, Macabee-(from McAbee, the type locality of the species) and -myrma (from the Greek myrmex, "ant"). Gender: feminine. It is formed “mac-” not “mc-” in accordance with recommendations (linguistic appendices) in the third edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (not included in the fourth edition, but in effect) ("Appendix D: Recommendations on the formation of names. III. Names based on personal names. Article 21a" in International Trust for Zoological Nomenclature 1985)."
