- Type locality: “Ciudad Perdida, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Departamento de Magdalena, Colombia, 1100 m”.
- Synonymised with Leptophis occidentalis (Günther, 1859) by Albuquerque, Passos & Gotte (2012: 250).
