Hypoatherina golanii Sasaki & Kimura, 2012

Holotype: FAKU 118085. Paratypes (61): AMS I.33820-007 (9); FAKU 118076–118084, 118086–118093 (17); HUJ 20131 (removed from HUJ 6121) (1); MNHN 2012-0117 (removed from MNHN 1977-0784) (1); SAIAB 42687 (6); SMNS 26452 (3); USNM 191708 (3), 332887 (16), 405511 (5) (removed from USNM 332888).

Type locality: Eilat, Israel, the Gulf of Aqaba, the Red Sea.

Etymology: The specific name golanii is named after Dr. Daniel Golani, Department of Evolution, Systematics and Ecology, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, in recognition of his valuable contributions to systematics on fishes in the Red Sea and the eastern Mediterranean.
