Type locality: Teuchitlán stream, La Vega reservoir, in Teuchitlán, state of Jalisco, Mexico (20°41′11″N 103°50′36″W / 20.686431°N 103.843453°W / 20.686431; -103.843453), 1,288 m.a.s.l.

Holotype: CNCR 35782.

Paratypes: CNCR 35783; CNCR 357784; CNCR 35785.

Etymology: named after Juan José Morrone Lupi.
