Español: Arbusto de hasta 2.5m de altura, las ramas suelen tener pelitos. Las hojas son más largas que anchas y miden de 5 a 18cm de largo. Sus flores son blanco-verdosas a amarillentas. Los frutos tienen de 1 a 2 semillas.
Origen desconocido, habita en clima cálido desde los 30 a los 100msnm. Asociado a vegetación perturbada de bosques tropicales caducifolio y subcaducifolio
Español: R. tetraphylla se caracteriza por la presencia del indol en sus diferentes órganos. En la hoja se han detectado tetrahidro-alstoína , aricina, rauwolscina, neserpilina y el isocompusto. En la corteza de la raíz se han identificado ajmalina, reserpina, serpentinina, tetrafilicina y pseudo-yohimbina. En la raíz ajmalina y raunescina, y en la corteza del tallo, N-deme-tilaccedina. La hoja contiene además, los flavonoides camferol, quercetín y ácido sirúngico; y el componente fenílico ácido ferúlico. |
