Twining herb forming large, dense tangles of interlaced stems, stems finely pubescent. Leaves trifoliolate, deep green and oily above, paler and thinly whitish pubescent beneath.Flowers in axillary pseudoracemes, occasionally branched, c. 8 mm tall, yellow-brown, calyx 5-toothed, tinged brownish, pubescent, standard c. 6 x 6 mm, elliptic, yellow with numerous fine red-brown veins on both sides, with a small brown basal spot, wings c. 5 x 2 mm, bright yellow, appressed to the keel, keel c. 7 x 2.5 mm, greenish lightly tinged brown. Pods in large clusters, opening along the upper suture, olive green and finely velvety pubescent with some longer spreading hairs outside, coppery brown within, with 2 glossy, deep navy blue seeds held attached to the margins, seeds c. 4 mm long, broadly ellipsoidal. Limestone rock outcrop behind escarpment cliff edge, with Aloes, in grassland.
