Viburnum ellipticum. Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 2.3 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA; common elsewhere). David Douglas considered this plant to be common near the mouth of the Columbia River. Botanists ever since has disagreed. Definitely rare in California.
