Summary

Description On the left is a white puffball from a White Lycoperdon (Lycoperdon candidum) mushroom. As its spores mature the white covering will crack open leaving a dark brown fruiting body. Eventually it will expand by absorbing rainwater and end up like the old fruiting body on the right.
