We have just returned from 12 days in the centre of Australia. Not many opportunities for bird photographs but I was delighted to get a few nice shots of this species (a new one for me).
I had walked along the bottom of Kings Canyon with our group of friends when I noticed these birds. Unfortunately I only had the "tourist lens" on the camera so I ran back to the 4WD, over a kilometre away, changed lenses and ran back to where I had last seen the bird. It must have benn an unusual sight to other tourists as my wife was running behind me carrying my tripod, struggling to keep up!
I thought it was a good effort for a bloke who turned 60 on that day!
