Type locality: “South shore of the Strait of Magellan, near the Eastern entrance.” Probably collected near Bahia San Sebastián on the Argentina side of Tierra del Fuego. (Braun & Pardiñas, 2015)

Holotype: BMNH, adult ♂, skin and skull.

Type locality “St. Martin’s Cove, Hermite Island,” Hermite Islands, Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, Chile.
