Name[edit]

  • Etheostoma (Oligocephalus) australe Jordan, 1889
    • Replacement name for Diplesion fasciatus Girard, 1859, secondarily preoccupied by Catonotus fasciatus Girard, 1859 when both are in Etheostoma.

Lectotype: MCZ 24625 [ex USNM 743 and MCZ 87]. Paralectotypes: MCZ 43092 [ex MCZ 24625] (now 2); UMMZ 86349 [ex MCZ 24625] (1). Lectotype designated by Collette & Knapp, 1967.

Type locality: Chihuahua River, Mexico.
