- Holotype: FMNH 191784 (formerly RCT 764), ♀, collected by Richard C. Taylor on 1 August 1947.
- Type locality: “Isla Bonita (The American Cicnona Plantation), on the Caribbean slope of Volcán Poas, [Heredia Province,] Costa Rica; elevation, 5,200 ft”.
