original combination: Psilaster gracilis Sladen, 1889

Type locality: Challenger station 237. North Pacific Ocean. Japan, south of Kawatsu. 34°37′00″N 140°32′00″E / 34.616667°N 140.533333°E / 34.616667; 140.533333. Depth 1875 fms.

Holotype: BMNH 1890.5.7.321 [1].
