Name[edit]

Dasyprocta azarae Lichtenstein, 1823: 3

Holotype: based on Azara’s “l’acouti” (1801: 26).

Lectotype: ZMB MAM 1044, adult indet., mounted skin, with the skull inside. [designated by Garbino & Nogueira (2017: 180)]

Type locality: “E provincia San. Paulo [= São Paulo] Brasil”, restricted to between 49°20’W and 44°11’W, state of São Paulo by Garbino & Nogueira (2017: 181).
