  • Holotype: MZUSP 117380.
  • Paratypes: LBP 5061 (2, 3), 5062 (0, 3), 5069 (3, 9), 5646 (7, 11 (3 c&s)); NUP 2264 (6, 6), 14947 (0, 6, 3 juv.), 16442 (0, 6, 1 c&s).

Type locality: Mato Grosso State, municipality of Cuiabá, tributary of Rio Aricá Mirim, Rio Cuiabá drainage, Rio Paraguai basin, 15°46'03"S, 55°30'44"W.

Etymology: The specific name coxipone refers to the Coxiponé indigenous people who inhabit the margins of Rio Cuiabá, near to the municipality of Cuiabá in Mato Grosso State, Brazil.
