  • Paratypes: KIZ 20140717002-20140717007 (6).

Type locality: China: Guangxi: Tiandong County: Potang Town: Longbu Spring in Nading village, 23°23'08.0" N 107° 15'21.4" E, altitude 269 m.

Etymology: Brevibarbatus, from the Latin brevis (= short), and barbatus (= bearded), in reference to the shorter barbel of when compared with C. bamen.
