  • Holotype: USNM. [lost fide Smith & Taylor (1945: 41)]
  • Neotype: BYU 13793, ♂, collected by W.W. Tanner & W.G. Robinson, Jr. on 5 September 1957. [designated by Tanner & Robinson (1960: 60)]
  • Type locality: “Guadalaxara [=Guadalajara], Mexico”, redesigned by neotype designation to “7.5 miles north of Magdalena, northwestern Jalisco, Mexico”, by Tanner & Robinson (1960: 60).

  • Coniophanes sarae Ponce-Campos & Smith, 2001: 10 [synonymized by Palacios-Aguilar & Flores-Villela (2020: 119)]
    • Holotype: MZFC 13030, ♀, collected by Ponce-Campos between 1–5 July 1999.
    • Type locality: “near Tehuantepec, municipality of Chinicuila (18°42’07.7”N, 103°18’22.3”W), 1390 m, Michoacán”.
