Name[edit]

Coelospermum Blume, Bijdr. Fl. Ned. Ind. 16: 994. (1826) as Caelospermum

  • Type species: Coelospermum truncatum (Wall.) Baill. ex K.Schum. in H.G.A.Engler & K.A.E.Prantl, Nat. Pflanzenfam. 4(4): 136. (1891) originally designated as synonym Coelospermum scandens Blume, Bijdr. Fl. Ned. Ind.: 994. (1826)

Note: This is a permissible orthographic error correction under ICBN Art. 60. Blume's original name was Caelospermum. In Latin caelum (or coelum) means heaven, whereas in Greek coelos means hollow or with a hole, which is referred to in the prologue. Therefore, Caelospermum can be corrected to Coelospermum and indeed Blume made the correction in his Flora javae (IPNI, 2019 and Razafimandimbison & Bremer, 2011).
