Name[edit]

Chiloglanis carnosus Roberts & Stewart, 1976

  • Holotype: MCZ 50464.
  • Paratypes: AMG P2741 [ex MCZ 50465] (1); BMNH 1976.5.21.42-45 [ex MCZ 50541] (4); MCZ 50241 (21), 50301 (1), 50382 (7), 50465 (orig. 15, now 14), 50541 (orig. 27, now 23, 3 c&s); MRAC 76-17-P-7-8 [ex MCZ 50241] (2); USNM 216372 [ex MCZ 50241] (3).

Type locality: Lower Congo River, near Inga, Democratic Republic of Congo, 5°27.5'S, 13°36.0'E [1].

Etymology: The specific name carnosus is the Latin word for fleshy, because of the general appearence of the species.
