- Lichenicolous Fungus (parasite on living lichens)
Diagnosis: Ascomata perithecioidea (pseudothecia) toto immersa in thallo hospitis. In sectione transversali pseudothecia globosa, 120-160(-200) µm diam. Paries ascomatum apice viridulo-caerulescens, parce incrassatus, basi subhyalinus, c. 10 µm crassus. Paraphysoides simplices vel leviter ramoso-anastomosantes, 1.5-2(-2.5) µm diam. Asci cylindrici vel subclavati, (50-)60-80 µm longi et (10-)12-13 µm lati, octospori, raro tetra- aut hexaspori. Ascosporae (13-)16-21.5(-24) x (4.5-)5-6 µm magnae, incoloratae, ellipsoideae vel fusiformes, simplices, in parte superiore crassiores quam in parte inferiore, tenuiter halonatae. A Cercidosporae speciebus aliis dissimilis sporis simplicibus. Supra thallo Lobothalliae spp. vigens.
Type: SPAIN. Catalonia: prov. Tarragona, Baix Ebre, Roquetes, Barranc de la Caramella, U.T.M. 31 TBF7920-7919, 400-500 m, on Lobothallia radiosa, 19 Oct. 1986, M. Boqueras and P. Navarro-Rosinés (holotype in BCC-Lich.)
Hosts: Parasymbiotic on the thallus of Lobothallia species
World distribution: Mediterranean Europe and western North America
