  • Holotype (unique): ZIN 55430.

Type locality: Kara Sea, Novaya Zemla Depression, 71°54.9'N, 62°52.9'E, 71°52.4'N, 62°54.2'E, depth 0-30 meters, over depth of 120 meters.

Etymology: The species name derives from Latin carina (= a keel), indicating the presence of keel-like projection in front of the ventral disk in this fish.
