Type location: U.S.A. South Dakota: McPherson Co., ca. 11 mi [17.6 km] W and 2 mi [3.2 km] S of Leola, adjacent to Nature Conservancy's Ordway Preserve, elev. ca. 1900ft. [580 m], 45o42'31"N, 99o09'28"W, 29 Apr 2007, M.K.Advaita 5435 (MIN, holotype; ASU, GZU, KANU, LD, NY and others, isotypes)

Ecology and distribution: On old boards and wood in open sun. Known from the northern Great Plains in North and South Dakota.
