Considered as "Probably a hybrid between Babbagia acroptera F.Muell. & Tate and Sclerolaena divaricata (R.Br.) Smith." (by P.G.Wilson 1984, Fl. Australia 4: 274). Now regarded as a probable hybrid between Sclerolaena divaricata and Osteocarpum acropterum var. deminutum." (Walsh, N.G. 1996, in: Flora of Victoria 3: 179)
