Name[edit]

Barbus caninus Bonaparte, 1839

  • Lectotype: ANSP 6142.
    • Lectotype designated by Bianco 1995.
  • Paralectotypes: ANSP 6143 (1).

Type locality: Piemonte, Po River basin, Italy.

Etymology: Latin caninus (= dog), from Barb canin, local name for this barb in Piedmont region of Italy.
