Type locality: California, Mendocino County, Hopland Field Station, 39.0016, -123.08553, 253m, coll. M. Bentzien 29.viii.1973, 21.xii.1972.
Etymology: The specific epithet is a patronym in honor of Barack Obama, first African American President of the United State and reputed fan of spiders.
