Acanthicus hystrix Agassiz in Spix & Agassiz, 1829

Holotype (unique): lost in WW II.

Type locality: Amazon River.

Etymology: hystrix (= porcupine), referring to entire dorsal surface of head armed with a bundle of long erectile spines, or odontodes. (From The ETYFish project)
