Wikispecies:Collaboration with ZooKeys

On July 6, 2009, Wikispecies announced a collaboration with ZooKeys. ZooKeys is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal on taxonomy, phylogeny, biogeography, and evolution of animals. Unlike most journals, ZooKeys' papers are available for downloads for free (in pdf format).

Overview

Starting from July 9, 2009, images of species will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons for usage in Wikispecies. The images are cropped from ZooKeys' papers and minor touch-ups were made. All images derived from ZooKeys are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (CC-BY 3.0). Once uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, the images will be placed under Category:Images from ZooKeys.
